Oreo birthday cake

I absolutely love making cakes. There’s no doubt about it, it’s a labor of love, but there’s nothing better than presenting a cake to family, friends, or someone special.

My niece Carol and she is also my Goddaughter, decided to give her boyfriend a surprise on his birthday. She came all the way home from KL  and secretly made him a birthday cake.

She made his favorite oreo cake, which he loved a lot. This Oreo Cake has two layers which is a rich, moist cake filled with Oreo whipped cream frosting with the handwritten words ‘ Happy Birthday to BB ’ embossed on it.

Oreo desserts are rich and flavorful. If you like Oreo cookies you’re going to fall in love with this cake !!! It is simple, yet very tasty!

Planning a surprise for your loved one can be an exciting affair. For someone very special, you might be looking for a gift that is lavish. However,  it’s not the amount of money that you spend, ’it’s the thought that counts’  what is most important is the kindness and love that you show by giving the present.

This is what love means! And here, I am wishing both of them a lifetime of love. May both of your love forever grow and happy ever after story!

Ingredients:

For the cake

3 eggs

25ml vegetable oil

35ml milk

50g cake flour

50g granulated sugar

30g Oreo crumbs

Icing

5 Oreos

350ml  whipping cream

30g sugar

30g Oreo crumbs

Method :

Preheat the oven to 150ºC.  You will also need a 16cm (6 1/2”)  cake pan.

In a large bowl, whisk 3 egg yolks and 25ml vegetable oil, 35ml milk, sift 50g cake flour, whisk all together until combined and make sure there are no lumps

In another bowl, add 3 egg whites to a large bowl, using a handheld mixer, whip the egg whites on medium-low speed till opaque, foamy and bubbly. Gradually add 50g sugar and continue whipping until stiff peaks form.

Fold in 1/3 of the egg whites to the batter until the mixture is homogeneous.

Fold in the rest of egg whites, mix gently until the mixture is homogeneous.

Fold in 30g Oreo crumbs.

Pour the batter into the ungreased cake pan.

To remove or prevent air pockets before baking, drop the pan gently a few times.

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean and the top of the cake springs back when gently pressed.

Once baked, Invert the pan immediately to cool completely before unmolding.

Once cool, use a large serrated knife, keep rotating, and slowly cutting deeper inside the cake until your cake splits into two separate layers.

Whipped cream frosting

Beat all ingredients in a chilled large bowl with electric mixer on high speed until stiff. Fold in 30g Oreo crumbs.

Place a dollop of frosting on a cake board that you’re stacking your cake on. This helps to prevent the cake from sliding around. Place the bottom layer center on the cake board.

Spread icing with Oreo crumbs and a few Oreo crackers on top in an even layer.

Add the final layer of cake on top and frost the outside of the cake with remaining frosting. Use an angled spatula to smooth it out

Trace the words with the white frosting.

Enjoy !
